Peril froze, wondering if she had actually heard what she had. "I AM NO ONE'S PET!!" the scavenger screamed in dragon. "Come meet Wren," the dragonet urged, his eyes pleading. The scavenger rolled her eyes at his antics. "I'm just gonna.go," Peril said, starting to leave, but the dragonet called, "Wait!" It sounded like they were talking in a mix between dragon and scavenger, and it was weirding her out. The scavenger squeaked something that sounded nearly dragon, and the Dragonet roar-squeaked back. The female swept her eyes around the clearing, and when she saw Peril, her eyes widened slightly. She stopped mid-lift-off and stared at the female scavenger, who was now squeaking to the dragonet and generally ignoring her. Peril sighed, and was about the spread her wings to fly off, when a scavenger entered the clearing. The dragonet just nodded, not taking his eyes off the snail. What kind of dragonet his age would be so interested in the slimy little things? "Are you.looking at a snail?" Peril asked, a bit confused. He smiled a little at her before going back to what he was doing before. Nearby, a dragonet jumped slightly, looking up at her. A few feet above it, she spread her wings like parachutes and slowed her, then landed softly on top of a rock, trying not to touch any of the grass that was everywhere. Peril tucked in her wings and arrowed towards the ground. I guess I'll just have to go and meet them myself, then, Peril humphed. As she hovered in place, her beating wings stirred up clouds.Īs she looked at the shape below for longer and longer, it seemed as if they were watching her. She couldn't really tell from her vantage point, but it looked dragon-esque. The sky was endless and blue, going on and on and on, far beyond where Peril could see (which was far).īut something far below her caught her sharp eyes, and Peril fixated on it. Peril shook off these thoughts, physically shaking her head. Plus, they had gone on a long adventure together. He was pretty much the first dragonet in the academy to talk to her (nicely), and it was hard to forget a dragon like that. He was weird, all right, but he had good reasons to be. Turtle's anxious face popped into her head, and she lightly smiled. Neither did most dragonets, though some had warmed up to her. She had gotten more used to being near other dragons, especially in close-quarters, but Peril still didn't trust herself completely. There weren't any dragons to force her to fight, or hunt, or make her stand on a rock and not touch anything. NOTE: No, I don't ship Turtle X Peril, if that's even a thing.
